Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap for Colombia: Ministry of Mines and Energy will receive comments up until February 25th<\/h1>\n

The Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy just published<\/a> the draft of the Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap for Colombia<\/em>. <\/em>Offshore Wind Energy projects are those developed in the sea, where wind speed is higher, making its energy production more efficient and consistent. The M&E Minister, Diego Mesa, also announced<\/a> that they expect to publish a definitive document next month. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Draft is already available for the general public, and the Ministry reported that it will receive comments and remarks regarding to it, up until February 25th<\/sup>. These opinions shall be submitted through a pre-established template and sent to the following email: pciudadana@minenergia.gov.co<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This Roadmap was designed and elaborated by The Renewables Consulting Group, as an external consultant sponsored by the World Bank in its global initiative of wind energy promotion which is carrying out since 2019. Its drafting was also supported by the multiple governmental institutions and agencies that will be involved in its implementation.<\/p>\n

The document includes the economical, technical, legal, and environmental relevant considerations to establish a material framework on the potential Offshore Wind Energy development, to come up with recommendations on public policy and planning for this type of projects\u2019 development and financing.<\/p>\n

Colombia, the Draft remarks, has a Marine Wind Energy <\/em>total potential of 109 GW, especially focused on the Caribbean Coast, being one of the highest worldwide. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Roadmap\u2019s definitive approbation will add it to Colombia\u2019s persistent efforts concerning the Energy Transition, which has been recently fortified with the issuance of the Hydrogen\u2019s Roadmap and the national Energy Transformation Policy. All these documents, which will guide the transformation of the national energy matrix, are the realization of the Mission for Energy Transformation\u2019s recommendations, and the provisions of Laws 1715 of 2014 and 2099 of 2021.<\/p>\n
